Uxbridge Township is located in Durham Region, Ontario, Canada. It was named after Uxbridge, England, and was first settled by Quakers in the early 19th century. The township's history includes the arrival of the first passenger-carrying narrow-gauge railway in North America and its amalgamation with the Town of Uxbridge and Scott Township in 1974.

Today, Uxbridge is a suburban community with a mix of residential, industrial, and agricultural areas. Major employers include Pine Valley Packaging and Koch-Glitsch Canada. The township boasts numerous trails, including the Oak Ridges Trail and the Trans-Canada Trail, earning it the designation of "Trail Capital of Canada."

Historical attractions in Uxbridge include the Uxbridge Historical Centre, the Thomas Foster Memorial Temple, and the former home of Lucy Maud Montgomery. The township also hosts various events throughout the year, such as the Uxbridge Fall Fair, Art in the Park, and the Uxbridge Ribfest.

Uxbridge offers recreational facilities like the Uxbridge Arena and Community Centre, which includes ice pads, a splash pad, and tennis courts. The area also features three ski resorts: Dagmar Ski Resort, Lakeridge Ski Resort, and Skyloft.

Transportation options in Uxbridge include the York Durham Heritage Railway, GO Transit bus service, and Durham Region Transit. The township is governed by a five-member council, including a mayor and a regional councillor.

Uxbridge provides various educational options, including public and separate elementary schools, Uxbridge Secondary School, and Durham College's North Campus.

The township has a rich history and offers a variety of attractions, making it a desirable place to live and visit.
